The Story: We are as impressed with breakthrough technology as we are with innovative thinking. Even when that innovative thinking includes ways to move things forward, including on the pricing front. Though the Segway definitely possesses the cool, quirky factor, it’s also a fairly pricey electric scooter, especially when compared to the GoPet (Pet stands for Personalized electric transport).

It can reach a top speed of 16 miles per hour, depending on hill grade and rider weight, with a range of up to 24 miles, which also must factor in speed traveled. The motor is a 350 watt permanent magnet brushless DC power plant, and the battery is a heavy duty rechargeable 48V, part of a 14AH pack. Recharging the motor will require between four and eight hours from a standard 110 volt house current, and the GoPet can carry up to 300 pounds. Plus, it comes with a headlight, a taillight, a horn and a basket. Options include a seat and a little trailer.
